Attention all aspiring princesses and princes: Disney is hiring! Living out every kid’s fantasy at the Happiest Place on Earth sounds like a dream job. Of course, as with most things, the reality of the work is probably a little less… glamorous than it appears. And, based on this job description they’ve posted looking to fill roles at Disneyland Paris, it looks like it could be pretty hard to land a gig. Before you even show up to try out, here are a few things to consider:
You have to be a certain height
Ladies, unless you’re between 5’3″ and 5’9″, you can count yourselves out. Luckily, that’s probably most women out there, but still. Dudes have more wiggle room: You can be between 5′ and 6’5″… depending on the next conditions, of course. They tell everyone to come audition anyway, even if you’re not sure, and they’ll measure you to their exacting standards during the process.
You have to look like a Princess
This might seem like it goes without saying, but bearing a striking resemblance to a character is pretty important. Luckily, Disney is hiring for a buuuunch of characters. They don’t just need princesses, either: they’re looking to fill roles from other movies, like Pirates of the Caribbean and even Star Wars. If only I was tall enough to play Chewbacca. Sigh.
You have to possess certain qualities…. and ideally, be able to dance
So what does it really take to make a Princess? According to the job description, ladies must “have elegance” and “graceful qualities”. For guys, they’re looking for “compelling, masculine features.” Some of the roles Disney is looking to fill involve participating in the Character Parade and as a costume character. These roles don’t require advanced dancing, just some basic moves, so if you have the grace and elegance, but two left feet, you might still have a shot.
Not sure you have what it takes to be the next Cinderella? Feel free to drown your sorrows in a Mickey Mouse-shaped churro. It’s hard to stay bummed at Disney for too long!
